Events for Combating Violence Against Women Were Held with Broad Participation

The events themed "Combating Violence Against Women," organized on Wednesday, December 18, in collaboration with Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Women's Issues Application and Research Center (KASAUM) and Gölhisar Vocational School, were held with intense participation to create social awareness and offer solutions in the fight against violence. The event started at 10:00 AM and ended at 3:00 PM at Gölhisar Vocational School.

 

The program began with a one-minute silence in the spiritual presence of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, his comrades, and our revered martyrs, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.

 

In his opening speech, the director of the Vocational School, Öğr. Gör. Murat Ertilav, emphasized the important role of universities and educational institutions in society in combating violence against women. He said, "Preventing violence against women is a shared responsibility of all segments of society, not just one. In this sense, as educational institutions, we see creating awareness and producing solutions as our primary duties. Today's event is a meaningful step towards this goal." He also thanked all participants, panelists, and contributors to the event.

 

Panel: Strengthening Together Against Violence The first part of the event, the panel, began with the opening speech by Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar on "Coping with the Impact of Violence." Prof. Dr. Çakar explained in detail the physical, emotional, and social effects of violence on individuals and addressed strategies for coping with these effects. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of social solidarity and support in this process.

 

Then, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Öznur Bayar, in her presentation on "Dating Violence and Developing Healthy Relationships," provided detailed information on the definition, types of dating violence, and measures individuals can take to build a healthy relationship. Bayar discussed the effects of dating violence, which is especially common among young people, on social perception and solutions.

 

At the end of the panel, Gölhisar Vocational School Director Öğr. Gör. Murat Ertilav thanked the panelists for their contributions and presented them with certificates of appreciation.

 

Workshops: Cooperation and Awareness The second part of the events continued with workshops starting at 1:30 PM. Workshop leaders provided participants with both theoretical and practical information, discussing individual and social solutions.

 

In the workshop titled "Psychological First Aid for Individuals Exposed to Violence," Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar explained the most effective ways to support victims of violence. She provided practical examples of how to meet the emotional and social needs of individuals during the psychological first aid process.

 

Simultaneously, the "Coping with Dating Violence" workshop organized by Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Öznur Bayar was designed for participants to recognize dating violence and develop effective coping strategies. The workshop provided an environment where individuals could share their experiences and receive expert opinions.

 

At the end of the event, thanks were extended to all participants and supporters who contributed.
