Technical Trip to Salda Science Center by Gölhisar MYO Students

Date | 23 October 2026, Friday

Teknofest

Students from Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Gölhisar Vocational School conducted a technical trip to Salda Science Center to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical work, examine scientific research on-site, and gain information about technological developments.

The trip was attended by the Director of Gölhisar Vocational School, Lecturer Murat ERTİLAV, and the teaching staff of the Computer Programming Program, Lecturer Hüseyin ŞENGÜN, along with the students.

During the visit, the Director of Salda Science Center, Prof. Dr. İskender GÜLLE, along with research assistants from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Research Assistant Ahmet GÜRSEL and Research Assistant Ali Batuhan KİLMEN, provided the students with information about the scientific studies, research activities, and technological applications conducted at the center.

Throughout the program, students had the opportunity to closely examine the workshops and scientific studies at the science center. Students visiting the meteorite exhibition were informed about space sciences and astronomy. Additionally, the geological structure, biological diversity of Salda Lake, and its similarities with the Jezero Crater on Mars were discussed from a scientific perspective.

3D Printer Technologies Were Examined Practically

One of the important sections of the technical trip was the practical training on three-dimensional (3D) modeling and printing technologies. In the training conducted by research assistants, the processes of three-dimensional modeling, adding text to the model, and the stages of producing the designed product using a 3D printer were demonstrated to the students practically through a sample microphone design.

Students had the opportunity to observe the process from design to production on-site, gaining information about the areas of use of three-dimensional modeling, digital design, and additive manufacturing technologies. The applications carried out helped students relate their theoretical knowledge to concrete examples and familiarize themselves with current production technologies.

After the academic and technical examinations at the science center, the students moved to the shores of Salda Lake, where they observed the natural and geological features of the region on-site. Thus, the technical trip was completed with a field visit that supports environmental awareness, in addition to scientific and technological examinations.

As Gölhisar Vocational School, we would like to thank Prof. Dr. İskender GÜLLE, Research Assistant Ahmet GÜRSEL, Research Assistant Ali Batuhan KİLMEN, and all the staff of the center for their valuable information and hospitality provided during this visit, which contributes to the academic and professional development of our students.
