A Scientific Roadmap for Lake Gölhisar Has Been Determined: Workshop Result Report Published

The report of the "We Are Carrying Gölhisar Lake to the Future - Climate and Ecology Workshop" organized with the aim of protecting and sustainably managing Gölhisar Lake, hosted by our Vocational School, has been published. In the report, concrete steps to be taken to save the lake were determined, and it was announced that the next phase is the "Gölhisar Lake Action Plan".
 

The technical and scientific outputs of the critical meeting held on December 17, 2025, under the leadership of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Gölhisar Vocational School Project Office and Western Burdur Development Desk (KAMA); coordinated by Gölhisar District Governorship and Western Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA), were shared with the public.

Scientific Roadmap for the Lake is Ready In the result report prepared with the contributions of expert academicians, local administrators, and representatives of relevant institutions; vital issues such as the lake water level dropping to 90 centimeters, drought threat, the impact of drainage channels, and agricultural water use were analyzed with detailed data. The report offers a "scientific guidance" based roadmap to preserve the ecological balance of the lake and pass it on to future generations.

 

Next is the "Gölhisar Lake Action Plan" 
It was emphasized that the published report is not just a detection document but also serves as an implementation guide. It was stated that the preparation of the **"Gölhisar Lake Action Plan"** is the next and most important step in the process. Within the framework of this plan, it is aimed to implement the decisions made in the report by scheduling them.
 

First Project Work Started: Target EUROLAKES 
In line with the decisions made at the meeting, project development processes were rapidly initiated. Within the scope of the studies carried out by our School's Project Office, the first step is being taken to access international funding sources. In this context, it was announced that preparations for the European Union-supported EUROLAKES project are about to be completed and that the official application will be made in January.

 

We are Followers of Scientific and Administrative Processes 
As Gölhisar Vocational School, we will continue to take initiative for Gölhisar Lake, the most important value of the region. In this process carried out in cooperation with Gölhisar District Governorship, GMYO Project Office, and Western Burdur Development Desk (KAMA); our school will continue to play an active role in providing scientific data, writing projects, and following administrative processes.
