Our College Faculty Member Attended the Launch at Sillyon Ancient City

Our College Faculty Member Lecturer Hatice KORKMAZ attended the OPET Sponsorship Launch at the Ancient City of Sillyon, where she conducts Restoration and Conservation Studies.
Excavation Director of the Ancient City of Sillyon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat TAŞKIRAN, opened all the facilities and work area in the ancient city to support our Architectural Restoration Program students in gaining experience during their education period in laboratory and field studies, allowing our students to work under the responsibility of Committee Member Lecturer Hatice KORKMAZ.
Creating awareness and aiming to preserve, research, and make Sillyon visible in a sustainable concept, Excavation Director TAŞKIRAN, who supports our students with his works, stated at the event that Sillyon is an important cultural heritage site with its archaeological cultural assets, historical values, and multi-layered texture from past to present, and that this ancient city, located at the convergence-conflict point of cultures and civilizations throughout history, bears traces of many civilizations.
At the event where OPET shared the joy of bringing our ancient values beneath the soil to light by carrying the Respect for History Project from Çanakkale - Troy to the proud city of Sillyon in the Mediterranean, a protocol was signed with the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism to support excavation and restoration works with the aim of contributing the Ancient City of Sillyon in Antalya, believed to have been founded by heroes named Mopsos and Calchas after the Trojan War, to Turkey's cultural heritage.
