Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar announced the projects they plan to implement between 2023-2027.
Rector Dalgar shared the Policy Document Presentation held at Lavanta Tepesi Hotel with both academic and administrative staff as well as members of the press.
In the Policy Presentation speech, which took place with intense participation, Rector Dalgar emphasized that they have identified the areas open to development and strategic priorities of the university, and said;
Emphasis on Universal Knowledge to Social Contribution
“I am very excited to share our policy document, which includes our priorities that will fill the content of our discourse from Universal Knowledge to Social Contribution and which we will follow throughout the 4-year Rectorate period.” said Rector Dalgar, sharing his projects under the following headings.
Regional Development in Livestock
Our work in the field of livestock will continue to expand without slowing down. But we are not just a university focused on the field of livestock. With all our units, 1100 academicians, and over 50 academic units, we want to produce comprehensive social contributions.
To date, we have produced and implemented dozens of projects in all categories of the livestock field; from animal feeding to farm management, from breeding to livestock technologies, and we will continue to implement them.
In this period, with the 3S approach, we will now transform our projects into Systematic implementation processes, ensure their Sustainability, and focus on achieving Results.
Internationalization
Strengthening our international university identity will be one of the most important strategic priorities of this period. The way to collaborate with more qualified universities, expand Erasmus programs, and increase our number of international students is to open more programs and courses in foreign languages. We believe that by expanding this pool every year, we will elevate our international cooperation and student numbers to much higher levels.
Academic Performance
We will support our academicians who contribute to the performance of our university with their academic work through reward and incentive systems. With our performance-based privilege approach, we will give special importance to our productive academicians who achieve international success. We will create target-oriented regulations and support systems based on the criteria of ranking organizations.
Applied Education - Individual Career Development
We have made unique and pioneering changes in applied education models in Turkey. In addition to applied education models, we will produce measurement and evaluation models that encourage practice and skill acquisition. The sector expects experienced graduates from us. If we achieve this, we will gain a significant advantage in terms of the employability of our graduates. With an original career school project, we are implementing a new design in this period that is individual-specific, skill-developing, task-oriented, and also based on practice. With an original career school model, we want to provide our students with experience outcomes as well as learning outcomes.
Digital Transformation Agenda
We are determined to move all processes to the digital world. We want to bring our IT infrastructure to where it should be in this period by establishing a large information management system that communicates with each other. We have established the Digital Transformation Coordination Office to coordinate our work in this area and guide us.
Social University
In addition to the academic education our students receive, we want them to actively participate in social organizations that will support their social development, allow them to develop in a multifaceted way, and enable them to look from different perspectives. To coordinate all these activities we aim for, we have established an institutional structure called the Social and Cultural Activities Coordination Office.
Contribution to Sports Tourism and Athlete Training
Our university has become one of the most important centers with sports infrastructure in our country. Thanks to our academic and physical facilities, we want to be a pioneer in developing new techniques and practices in the field of sports sciences.
We have redefined the mission of our Sports Sciences and Athlete Training Application Research Center to coordinate our university's sports policies within a framework of common sense.
Active Corporate Communication
We will follow a proactive approach in promoting our university. In corporate promotion; we will have a multi-faceted, dynamic, and continuous strategy. We will prioritize the promotion of the achievements of our academic units and academicians in national and international platforms as they deserve. We will implement a social media strategy where our students and academicians will actively participate, produce academic content, and thus offer the knowledge and expertise of academia for the benefit of society. We are establishing a studio that will allow us to produce all these contents in a much higher quality. In this studio, we will produce quality programs with our academicians and share the knowledge with society.
Within the framework of this understanding we mentioned, we are restructuring our Corporate Communication Application and Research Center to implement our university's Corporate Communication policies.
We Will Create a Ground Swell and Implement Our Policies
Being successful in these policies is possible with each academic unit believing in the same approaches within its own sphere of influence. It is possible with producing ideas and actions in line with these approaches. I have experienced so far that we can be successful not with those who are convinced, but with those who believe; with people who feel indebted to their state and nation.
I am paying a debt on my own account, I am keeping a watch, and I dream of making my university, to which I have dedicated a meaningful part of my life, an institution known for its scientific achievements, producing high-level contributions to society, in a working peace. My confidence in myself comes from my confidence in you.” said Rector Dalgar, concluding his speech, and was applauded by the academicians and administrative staff attending the meeting.
